Okay, for those of you who don't know it, we had a buyer for our car. He backed out at the last minute this week. Blow #1. We also had a buyer for superfluous house. We found out on Tuesday that they won't qualify for financing until October, because they filed for bankruptcy a few years ago. Blow #2. Then yesterday, we found out the water meter on said extra house exploded. The yard is a lake, the basement is a swimming pool, and the water has leaked in through some cracks in the basement and froze in the cracks. Mighty Blow #3. The water company informed me this morning that it is our fault the meter ruptured, so we will have to pay for it, even though the meter belongs to them. How is this our fault? I ask. The little man says because we didn't insulate it enough. How the flip he knows this when NO ONE from the water company has been to the house is beyond me. He says the repair guy will assess and judge on Monday, then send us a bill. So we not only have to repair the damages to our house and clean up ourselves, but we have to pay the water company to fix their property as well. Blow #4.
We're going to see the house this weekend to try to head off getting rooked by the water company.
I know I've said this a lot, but more prayers, please? Every little bit helps at this point. Also, while you're tossing up those platitudes to the Man Upstairs, send one up for my sanity. It's not doing so well at the moment.
The Almighty Liz

Fight back! I fought AT&T yesterday and Hampton Bay fans last week- and won! Be strong! Refuse to give into this crap!
I would call your insurance company and have them pay for most of the stuff!
we called the ins co already, lol! we're waiting to see if the water company is going to grow a pair and pay for the damage they caused first, before we officially send in a claim, because the house is vacant, so the ins co wouldn't want to cover it anymore if they find out, ect ect. beaurocratic crap.
Wha? The insurance company does not like to cover vacant houses? You're still paying for the insurance, so why should it matter?
that's what I thought. idiots.

Oh Liz. I am so sorry about this whole thing. Everyone is going to try to not do their part and fix this. Instead they're going to ignore the fact that they have gazillions of dollars and instead try to make the homeowner without two pennies to rub together pay for this mess. If you need me to call and chew some people out I will. You know I'm willing after our earlier conversation. I'm feeling like a trip to Peoria. There are some people who need to meet me, my fist, and a video camera. (So we can relive the good times.) Also if I happen to have a mishap inside the house because of my new smoking habit and accidentally catch the curtains on fire in my sleep, that would be a real tragedy.
lol! you got it mary. it's a date!
Here's another thought: hire some vagrants to start occupying the house and accidentally set the house on fire when they make a fire in a oil drum to keep warm.
thats a great idea mary, then they could blame it on pres bush and the need for the spending bill
That right! It's President Bush's fault that your water meter blew up! He went over there and blew it up just to hurt your personal economy and the economy at large!
Really, though. You haven't been around today. I'm starting to worry about you. Are you sick? Or have you been hung up working on the house ordeal? Anything I can do for you?
working on the house. just got home 1/2 hour ago. going to bed now. cheers.
I'll start praying for lightening to strike your extra house a.s.a.p.
Love you!! Hang in there!
