Oh Me, Oh MY!!

Well, a couple of action packed days I've had! First things first:
I have a new nephew! (I gave Bruce and Renae a couple of days to announce, but they are busy, and so I apologize for jumping in!!) He was born Monday, June 30th, (my birthday as you all know, so he must be a genius as well as astronomically good looking), at I think 5:45pm? I'm not too horribly sure about that time. Keep an eye on Renae's blog, she'll post the correct stats soon I'm sure. He is named Clayton Thomas Harlan, and he weighed in at 7lbs 5oz, and he was 20in long. Mommy and baby are both super good, as far as I know. Clayton was out in one push. (I am staggered by this)
I got this news while my husband and Erik were in the hospital. My daughter, on my birthday whilst we had friends over and were doing dinner and cake and ice cream and fireworks and presents, slammed his finger in her bedroom door because she didn't want him in her room. This was not the first time she's done this, but this was definitely the worst. She spent the rest of the night in bed, and Erik got a trip to the ER. His finger's not broke, thank all that is holy, but he's still favoring it to an extent, and he has one heck of a bruise, and it's still swollen. Poor kid.
On to the good stuff! My presents! I got some dark chocolate truffles from my friend Chris, which were very close to the best thing I've EVER put in my mouth. My friend Becca is going to make me something. (she's a ceramics major, and super talented, so I'm way excited to see what it'll be) My mom got me a new dandy crock pot. (my old one got squashed in our recent move) My sister and her family got me water toys because we are now members of our local pool, and will be spending much time there. My sister-in-law and her husband got me a candle and a cooling eye mask, and then Suzanne watched my kids after dinner so I could go bowling child free with everybody. (yep, she's awesome, and the kids had a blast with Aunt Suzanne!!) I got a cute little black dress from Timpani and Erik. (her husband, not my son) My best friend Mary got me a cake and fireworks, and made my dinner and cleaned my kitchen. And last but not least, my husband got me the latest Stephenie Meyers novel, The Host! I'm a quarter of the way through it (I've been busy and I had to finish another book, so I didn't get started till yesterday) and so far it's awesome! Stephenie Meyers rocks, that's all I have to say.
And a bit of random good news; I went swimming yesterday and I did four laps! Now, I know that's piddly, and I had to rest after each lap, but considering that when I started I could only handle a half a lap period, rests or no, and I've had to take the last couple of weeks off due to setbacks with my stupid illness, I think that's awesome. I'm thinking of starting a fitness blog for everybody who wants to get in better shape with a support group. Weigh in will you guys? Who's interested? I know I do better when I have someone to be beholden to.
So that's it. Good week so far. I'm off to go spend some quality time with my best friend who's husband and son are off for the next couple of days. Until next time, folks!
The Almighty Liz

Ooh! A fitness blog! What a clever idea! I knew we were friends for a reason! I'm definitely interested. Also, I would like to say, that if you call what I did "cleaning" the kitchen, then you are one poorly kept woman. (No offense to John, I know he works AND performs the majority of the household duties these days.) I left the kitchen as undone as I found it, since we ate after the big clean-up, and I didn't clean it up again.

I'm starting to get a little worried about you. You left about a little over an hour-and-a-half ago. Where are you? I hope you're safe. (Call me)

Hey Liz, thanks for the update of all things Sever...

What an eventful birthday! Never a dull moment, huh?

For pete's sake call Mary and then let the rest of us know you're alive & well. :) I hate transcontinental worrying...

Much love!

I'm glad that you had a great birthday Liz... I was working of course, but I sent many happy thoughts your way.
A fitness blog sounds good. I know that, like you, I do better with someone to talk to (yeah, sorry that I haven't called to check on your fitness progress, I'm a loser) and work through the journey together.

I will chime in on the fitness blog, if you want. I do 3-4 different kinds of workouts a week.
It took me a few months with swimming before I could actually "swim laps" I would keep moving, but I would have to do lots of laps where I would just swim on my back and lightly kick to keep moving.

Now I alternate between freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke for 15 minutes each, and then do stomach exercises in the deep end (just like doing the twist, except in the water) for 15 minutes to cool down. Yeah, that's an hour of swimming, because I am just that cool.

This week, I am trying out Yoga DVDs from blockbuster.com to find one that I like. Yoga is so great when you have lots of stress, or babies, because it pulls and stretches all the muscles to help you really relax.

I'll let you know which one I like best in case anyone wants to try Yoga with me!

okay everyone, i'm fine! i made it to mary's perfectly okay, i just hit traffic, so it took me longer than normal. and it looks like i've got some interest in the idea of a fitness blog, so i will think up the best way to do it, and launch it in the next couple of days. i will also be posting on how my girls day with mary and her daughter and my daughter, and yes, unfortunetly erik was subjected as well, went when i get home. i'm still at mary's currently, still having a blast. renae is doing okay as of yesterday. a little problem with spinal fluid leakage from her epidural site, but the prospects of her coming home today looked good. thanks everyone!

Hey Timpani! I do yoga!!! But what I really, really, really want is the wii fit. Man I should invest. It's cheaper to buy one that in get a year's membership at the gym. See I've practically talked myself into it.

Thanks for updating us as to your whereabouts Liz. :)

Give Renae my love when you can! I'm so happy she finally got Harlan in there. :)

My sister has the Wii Fit and we got to try it out last night. It was really cool. I think we're going to buy one as soon as we move in with Jer's parents and have no bills. ;P Just kidding. But we want one.

Oh yeah- sorry I never came back to let everyone know that Liz was ok. We had a good tim. Sure will miss you, Liz.

I used to do yoga all the time Timpani. Still try to sometimes, but sometimes the spinal fluid pressure doesn't allow me to. Just depends on the day.
I also have the pilates dvds which are fabulous.
And now that I'm finally over my anger about having the strokes and the random disease, I'm ready to undo the damage. It's going to be rough, but I don't have a choice, because I WILL NOT have another stroke.
