On a Lighter Note...

Well folks, we are moved! We managed, with a terrific realtor, and a dynamite mortgage guy, to close in two weeks! So the whole process only took a month, which was a blessing and a curse all in one. Moving day was last Saturday, and it ended up stretching into Sunday due to not quite enough help on the loading side, which ended up exhausting John and Bruce, which resulted in John locking the keys in a running car containing our cat. An hour and a half and a locksmith later, they were on the road to our new home! Unfortunately, it was far too late to unload that day, so we did it in the morning. Unloading took much less time, and we saw the mettle of our new neighbors, who unhesitatingly pitched in to help move our piano! The kids LOVE the new house! They each have their own room, (and John and I are enjoying having a room of our own again too!!), Erik has graduated to a Big Boy Bed, and the fenced in backyard is, to put it lightly, an enormous blessing. We have spent hours out there everyday just soaking up the good weather. It's raining today, so we are stymied. How did I get along without a fenced yard for so long??...
I am doing better. I'm done with round four of the antibiotics, and so far so good!
John I think likes his new job. The people are nice, the hours are better, he doesn't have to commute at all, and the benefits are great. He hasn't really done anything like work yet, he's just been training, so we'll see what the real evaluation will be in a few weeks.
So all in all, life is darn good. I love that I'm so much closer to family and friends now, and as soon as I'm totally well, and John brings home the other car from our old house, I fully intend to take advantage of it. I'm also close enough to go to my old doctor, and that is very exciting for me. Things are definitely looking up!

I had no idea Bruce and John were trying to load up alone! I thought the Elder's Quorum was going to help?

I did help the Wall's move that same day (while watching the kids, since Erik had to work).

there were some elders' quoram guys. three in fact, but not all at the same time, and nobody stayed long. so yeah, they started i think around eight, and didn't get done loading until something like four, and then throw in the car keys thing, and they wouldn't have gotten to the new house until something like nine-thirty or ten. yucky! and yeah, crystal razzed me about stealing "her" bruce for the move. i told her that i had had dibs. :)

Congrats on the move and the new house! You'll have to give me your address and number so that I can pull evil pranks on you if I ever get bored.

why in HEAVENS name would i give the MASTERMIND of all phone pranks HELP in finding my number and address? you MUST be trippin'!

Brother in law does trump long time neighbor/friend for moving help. I think that makes Bruce more you and John's than Crystal's.

But, really, who would want to own Bruce?

lizS said...

i never claimed ownership! just helping rights. :)

You know, it's funny to hear that the two most anti-Bruce women that I know are fighting over him when there is work to be done. I knew you both wanted my Bruce all along! ;) I always tell him that he is Jean ValJean. And strength wise, it's actually kind of true. Bruce does seem to be stronger than most men out there. Ahh, brag, brag, brag. Okay, shut up you dumb dumb!!!

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that things are looking up for you all! We were worried about you all powerful lots.

LOL! I love all you guys. I'm so blessed to have such wonderful friends. Whatever did I do to deserve such a blessing?!

By the way, where did the Walls move?

lizS said...

i know you're the walls' home teacher. i still think brother-in-law trumps, and you obviously do too, because who did you pick to help? yup, that's right, us. and i think the walls had plenty of help, considering they got done in like two and half hours, or something (correct me if i'm wrong) and it took us two days. and i'm not anti-bruce. i like bruce just fine. i just would never marry him.

Bruce said...

im going to exercise my right to remain silent on that issue liz.

lizS said...

that's a first.

The Walls moved across town, Dana.

Why is Bruce being quiet? It's wrong, really, for Bruce to be quiet. I like talkers, since I tend to be more quiet.

Hmmm, maybe Bruce and Liz butt heads because they are both talkers.

And, Renae, I KNOW everyone wants my husband. Welcome to the club.

I'M a talker? are you serious? i have never thought of myself as a talker. it does make me nervous when other people aren't filling the silence though, and that causes me to babble. perhaps that's where you got that impression. but seriously, to compare me to BRUCE in that way...i'm almost offended...

so i asked my husband and he says i AM a talker. he says not all the time, but sometimes it's even hard to get a word in edgewise! i am chagrined.

Dana Cheryl said...

Don't worry Liz. I'm sure all men say that about their wives. We women have a need to use more words each day than men. Or at least that's what I was taught in a psych class. Also considering the fact that you spent the day with kiddos that can't always have deep, meaningful conversations with you... Anyway don't be chagrined just get a Verizon phone and call me. :)

lizS said...

i have unlimited long distance on my landline. i'll call you. at least SOMEBODY wants me to talk to them.

Renae said...

I'm sorry, but in our house it is exactly the opposite. Bruce is deffinatly the talker. And while I can carry on a conversation, I am much shyer than him. I've come a LONG way since hanging out with Bruce, but I still have far fewer words than he does. (Who doesn't) Our children seem to be following our pattern too. Ross and Mark are much more outgoing than Lydia.

timpani76 said...

once again. I LIKE TALKERS. Why would you be chagrined? It's just part of your wonderful personality Liz!

lizS said...

oh, mainly because i pride myself on being a good listener, and john says i don't let people get a word in edgewise. i think mainly, though, it's just when i'm nervous. i do tend to babble incesently then. whatever, i rock. who cares if i sometimes talk to much, right? right. i AM the almighty liz.

Dana Cheryl said...

Yes, yes you are! Hey and call me anytime. Don't worry I won't answer if I'm at work, church (unless the talk is waaaaayyyyy boring;), etc... I'd love to talk to you and I have mucho minutes so there's no chance I'll go over!
